Every year the P.E. teachers host a Play Day. That is when we get to do fun activities on the High School field. Some of which are Tug-Of-War (VERY popular), Musical Buckets, Hurdles, and the new game, The Obstacle Course. K-5th grade got to do this fun activity, but the Middle School and High School folks don't have to worry because they get Field Day. I have spoke with a 8th grader, and they said it was very fun, so can't wait for next year either. (Sadly, I'm moving, so hopefully they will have some kind of Field Day at my new school.) I don't want to get into much detail, so here is a quick video showing some people all the way through K- 5th, so you might see some of your little friends, or some of your friends here in 5th grade!

My Fantasy Writing
This is my fantasy piece, and I hope you enjoy reading it. It took a lot of effort to make this with all the planing for the story, making the pictures, and putting it onto FlipSnack to publish it to my blog. I was reading over this and I found out that I had some parts that don't make sense, so if you see something that doesn't look right, it is because I didn't fix it. I really liked doing the fantasy unit because it doesn't just mean we get to have fun with magic and all of that stuff, but it shows our creativity too! The thing that I was frustrated with was the part when we made the pictures. I was really confused, and I was always messing things up. Thankfully I got 4 pictures in, but if I was more in controlled, I probably could of gotten 6 pictures. I think that this wasn't one of my best pieces, but I wouldn't say that it was one of my worst. I hope you enjoy reading, and please comment saying what I should work on.

My 2nd Reflection To Christalite Methodist Home
This would be my second time going to the Christalite Methodist Home. I thought it wasn't as fun as the time before, but it was still fun! I will tell you again all the things that happened from the bus to leaving. I hope you like my second reflection!
First I got on the bus, (what other way could I get there?) and it was the shortest ride ever. It seemed even shorter than going to the same place last time. I was very excited and nervous at the same time. I can not explain why I was nervous though. Then we pulled in, and my second adventure begun!
I got in to the entrance of the Christalite Methodist Home and the people who worked there told us to sit down while they got our room ready. Then in a matter of time, the people who worked there told us that our room was ready. We all rushed in to see what our room was going to look like. It was a little strange being in a different room than the one we used to have. Though there was a good thing about the room, it was huge. First we thought it was going to be small, but then the people who worked there started to unlock another bigger room, so that gave us TONS of space.
All of the class started rearranging things, and in about 5-10 minutes we where ready to go! People started coming in. Only one at a time though. Everyone had a least 1 person at their table, but no more than 5. It was sad that only little people came in. Even though a few people came in, we all had someone to work with.
This man came to my table, and Jade and I started to talk to him. He wasn't talking back to Jade and I. Then one of the people who works there told us that that man couldn't see very well, and Jade and I later on found out that he didn't speak english, or any language. (He probably did, but he wasn't talking at all!) Both Jade and I helped that man when this old lady sat down.
I was surprised that I saw the same fragile, so cute, old lady that I talked about in my last reflection. She was a little more active this time, and made 4 hearts. They were really good too! I thought she did a really good job again because she knew what to do, and she didn't put random things all over her heart. (The only thing that she did differently was she sometimes decorated the heart when the heart was upside down.) She was also confusing. She always wanted everything to be in order. She would make a row of 5 pom-pons, then she would skip a row and do 5 more. I wouldn't think that old people would want to place things in a order. They would just want to scatter everything around. I also gave her a marker, and she did really weird designs with it. She only did one design on all her hearts.
Then this old woman sat down next to where Jade was standing, and Jade really needed help because she couldn't help two people at a time. I was helping that one woman that I talked about in the paragraph above, so I was busy. Alyssa came over and asked if we needed help, and of course, she read our minds! Since Alyssa came over, she helped the one man Jade was helping, and Jade helped the one woman that just sat down. Things worked out just right.
One hour passed by, (but it seemed like 20 minutes) and we had to say good-bye. I was sad. I wanted to keep on helping, but we had to go. I will definitely keep this place in mind. (Especially when I look back at this reflection!) I wish that we had longer time, because only a few people came in, we had plenty of extras, and I would of loved to help out some more! I did hear that everyone was on lunch break, so that gave some explanation to why there was only little people. I loved going, and would love to come back with some more crafts because I think that the people there really like them!

My Experience To Tibetan Singing Bowls
When I was walking down the hall, I was sort-of nervous. I was nervous because I have never heard of such thing, and I was curious to see what is was. I will tell you how I felt when Bill Cael (The man who did the whole Tibetan Bowls) rung those bowls. You may not understand what I am saying, but I will try my best to explain. The things I felt were not so good things. I saw a movie, seashell, my grandma, a whale, and blue. Read these paragraphs to find out what I mean.
What Bill Cael did fist was really simple. He rung these things that look like symbols, but a little bit bigger. He told us to close our eyes, so we did so. When he rung them, what I felt was this part of the movie. The movie was The Polar Express. What I mean is a certain part of the movie. I totally forget it, but it was not one of the fun times of the movie. Then strait away it went out of mind and I felt a seashell. This is a hard one to explain. I didn't really feel like a seashell was on me, but it was being swept across my legs.
Then Bill told us to lay down while he played the actual Tibetan Bowls. When he played the bowls, they weren't as high pitched as I thought they would be. They were quiet low if you ask me. When he played those though, I felt my grandma when she died. When he played all that I felt was the day when black was everywhere, there was lots of crying, and then my grandma was in the ground. It wasn't a pleasant moment.
Then Bill played the longest he'd ever have. When he did that I felt two things. One of which was a whale. I have a sheep that makes whale noises, and I've watched a movie that had excellent whale noises, and that is not exactly what I heard, but something like it. Then a little bit later I felt blue. Again this is a hard one to explain. When he was playing the bowls, at one point it was very high pitched, and I felt blue. I don't know how, but I did.
Now you know what I felt like when I was hearing the Ancient Tibetan Singing Bowls. You know how I flet, but I don't know how you felt, so please write a comment below saying how you felt because everybody else wants to know how you felt too! Thanks for reading.

Images Of Singapore Field Trip

When I got to Images Of Singapore we immediately had our snack. I thought that the adventure began, but that wasn't even the start. We had our snack for about 15 minutes, then we went to actually start our adventure. I thought that this was just going to be pictures of Singapore, and important people, but that is nothing what I had in mind. We got inside and there was this place to look at a bunch of old things. I wondered why it looked like that because I had thought it wouldn't be like this. Then this man opened these doors, and in I went.
I went in some more and sat down in a seat. I looked at the paper I had in my hand and found out that this was the Auditorium Presentation. The main reason for this is to talk about the four winds. The four winds are Harmony, Peace, Family, and Community. There were four people who told us that. They came from different realigns. They are Indian, Chinese, Malaysian, and European. (You will see later why I told you that.) Then the show was over, and we went into this other room.
When we went into the other room we saw all the trades the people back then had. (If you are wondering, a trade is a job.) There were tons of jobs, but I got four. The four I got were a Rickshaw puller. (A Rickshaw Puller is a person who not drives people, but takes people to other places. Sort-of like a taxi, but no car.) The other three I got were Amah, (Helper) Sam Sui Woman, (builder) and a Indian Milk Seller. I thought that all of these jobs are important. Do you?
I walked some more went up some stairs, walked a little bit more, and I came to the timeline place. There were so many things that happened to make Singapore Singapore, but there were other important things that happened. I got three things. One happened in 1930. That was when the storm Clouds Gathered. The Storm Clouds were the Japanese coming to Singapore. I chose this because Singapore had to face possibility of war. The second one I got was in 1942-1945. This was the Occupation. What happened in the Occupation were, thousands of Europeans were interred on the island. Last but not least, in 1950 was the Road To Independence. That was when Singapore became Singapore, and the Japanese surrendered. Do you think that those are important?
Then I walked a little bit more and I came to the Primary Sources. I got two. First, T.V. I learned that the Japanese surrendered. I was thinking that the Japanese will never fight back because they see that Singapore has over taken them a lot. The second one I got was an Embroidered Frame. I learned that it was made with silk threads. I was thinking that people back then were very creative.
Then came the Secondary Sources. I got two Secondary Sources. I used a Drawing Of People. It was very colorful and very designed. I was thinking that it would take them a long time to make them. My other Secondary Source is a mannequin of Sam Sui Woman. I learned that it took a long time to build things because back then the didn't have the tools we have now.
Then I walked some more and I came to a sort-of Indian world. It was very cool because I felt like I was a normal person taking stroll in India. I also learned a lot from their culture. I never really knew about Deepavali, but now I do. I thought it was really cool because I've never really studied or seen any Indian things.
Then we went into China World. I had a little experience with China because I have been to China Town, but I don't know that much. I thought this was even more cool because there were so many things that are different from my culture. As I went, I was thinking of all the things that my culture (USA) and their culture (China) had in common and not. I loved this even more because it was cool to see what they do for a life. Then the amazement began.
I went into this HUGE room with all these things about everything that we learned. I realized that that was the end. I thought that this field trip was great fun, and I would love to come back anytime. I thought that the purpose of Images Of Singapore was to show you how Singapore has grown. (Here is the part I was saving for the end about the cultures.) Someone's perspective was missing from that museum. It was the European because did you ever hear me talk about it?
All of my questions:
Who was the first person to come to Singapore?
What is the main trade of Singapore?
Did they mean to take out the Europeans part or no?
If you have any of these answers, please write a comment below answering them. Thanks!

My Non-Fiction Writing
On the Non-Fiction unit I choose the topic dolphins because they are my favorite animal, and I only know a little about them. That would be why I chose this topic.
I thought that this topic was simple, and that's why I really liked Non-Fiction. I also liked learning more facts about dolphins, and now I'm a dolphin pro. I did not like when we did pages though. I had too many facts, so it was really hard to cram it into 4 pages. (I'm glad that Mrs. Clayton let us do 4 pages instead of 2. I would of died.) I really hope that you like my piece because it took a lot of effort!

Reflecting On Science

The first investigation we did was called "Separating Mixtures". I thought that this investigation was pretty hard because I didn't really do science that much in 4th grade. Plus in 4th grade, we never did science like this. I really was interested in all the experiments though. When working with our group, I didn't think that we did a good job because when the directions told us that we had to pour something, or one person had to do it, we all wanted to do it. It was crazy. People were asking left and right, can I do it? Can I do it? I learned that when you work with table groups, you really have to find a method for taking turns so that everybody in the group with get a turn. I liked this investigation, but I flunked the test.
The second investigation we did was called "Reaching Saturation". I loved this even more because all we had to do was shake shake shake! Our group did a little better because we were split into 2 groups, (of 2 or 3 people per group from a table group) and at least my group was good about taking turns. I probably could of kept track of what I was doing because when we shook, we had to put more and more salt in, and every time that the salt dissolved, (or saturated) we would put more salt in. Then we would have to mark how many scoops of salt we put in. My test results were better then before.

I learned lots and lots of stuff from this investigation. We learned about atoms, and it was fun rearranging fake atoms to make different things like: Calcium Carbonate (chalk), Carbon Dioxide (gas), and other stuff like that. My test results were the best I had ever done!
Science was difficult and lots of fun for me. There were times were I got so frustrated I wanted to run home and start crying, and there were times that I totally got it, that Mrs. Clayton wouldn't have to say anything else. When I was struggling, I can definitely connect to last year when I did science because I was also struggling. Not as much as this year because we did easier things that I kinda already knew from 3rd grade, but some times last year I didn't really get it. Now that science is over, I am ready for Social Studies, so come and get me!

Christalite Methodist Home Reflection
I thought that this trip was going to be like old people, gross smells and other stuff like that, but it wasn't at all. Most of the people were old, but not all. Some rooms did have a little smell, but then you got use to it. And most of all, it was nothing like I expected it to be! Read on to find out what I did from beginning to end.
The first thing that I did was make hats with all the people. That was my favorite part. I first got pared up with this Chinese guy who I really could not understand! He had a really low voice, and he spoke so fast in Chinese that I couldn't understand him. Then the lady who worked there spoke in Chinese to him and we found out he just wanted to listen to the Christmas songs that were on, and wanted to interact with us. He left the table and this other man sat down and thankfully he spoke english. The man worked on his hat for at least 10 minutes, and it turned out beautiful!
Then this other woman sat down and I started thinking Oh no! This is going to be a mean one! But she wasn't, she was a very nice woman and found out her name is Julie. She had already made one hat, but she wanted to make another so I let her because I can't tell her no.
She was still making her hat when this really really old lady sat down. She looked so fragile that I was like look how cute she looks! The old lady didn't say a thing, I didn't say a thing, and the lady knew what to do. The old lady made two hats too!I was really impressed because others did not know what to do.
I helped the two ladies until Julie was done, and then the old lady left. The old lady didn't want her hats. I wondered why. Nobody was at the table I was at, so I started to wandering around. A little later this man came in and wanted a hat, and there was none left. So I had no idea where to get one and I guess I accidentally grabbed Alexa's hat and gave it to the lady. The reason why I did grab Alexa's hat was because there was man holding my hand and constantly kept asking me, "I want a hat" over and over again. I was completely confused! So I quickly gave Alexa's hat to the woman, and looked around the place to find an extra hat and there was none left, so I grabbed mine off my head and gave it to the man. The man took the hat and quickly ran off, and that was the end of that.
After that we all went into the hallway and one of the elderly asked me, "Where's your hat?" I responded, "The was no hats left and I was really confused, so I gave my hat to someone." Ryan was coming though the crowd and he started taking off his hat and putting it into my hands. He said, "Keep it. I have more at home." So I took the hat and now I have a santa hat. (Again thank you Ryan!)
We all went to where they ate and sang four songs to the elderly. 1) Feliz Navidad 2) Silent Night
3) Jingle Bells 4) We Wish You A Merry Christmas. I thought it was very fun singing the songs, but once we finished a song, hardly anyone would clap. But I still thought it was fun.
Our fun time comes to an end, but we can cherish the memories. I learned that old people are active, and love children. I explained everything to my mom and was interested the whole way through. I am exited to come back in February, and can't wait to cherish more fun times.

My Favorite Book In The Genre Ice Cream Challenge.
O.M.G.Y.H.T.R.T.B
Otherwise known as “Oh My Gosh You Have To Read This Book”
Title: A Long Walk To WaterAuthor: Linda Sue Park
Reason: What would you do if you were in school and all of the sudden BAM! You hear loud gunshots outside, and you are away from your family? I would be terrified if I were in that situation. You would love this book because it is full of adventure! There is adventure here, there, and everywhere! This book starts off with a normal average day in school in the village of Loun-Ariik. Then something terrible happens. You will have to read this book to find out. But later in the book there’s lots of dying, emotion, and traveling. In the end it could be very happy, or it could be sad, but I want you to read it to find out! You can find A Long Walk To Water in the IS library, but it’s so popular that you may have to go to the MS library to find it. A Long Walk To Water is like a R-S level. Also, as you can see, A Long Walk To Water is an Adventure and Historical Fiction book. If you like this book, Linda Sue Park has also published A Single Shard, When My Name Was Keoko, and Click. Last but not least, A Long Walk To Water was published in 2010, and it is still the best selling book, so you should read it! Have fun reading!

My First Two Weeks of School!
So far my first two weeks of school have been fun! I have lost some star bucks, but I still have plenty more for the year. The first day of school was sort-of scary but when I came in the door my best friend was standing by the desk that she wanted. I have met new friends and saw old ones, but the hard part was trying to remember everyone in the class names! I am still having a little trouble with the names, but I am close to knowing every ones! Math- math has been one of the hardest subjects of my life, but Mrs. Clayton makes it fun! My grandpa has been trying to get me to do the game "Sudoku" over the past few years, but every time he try's to teach me, I have no idea what he is saying, but we played "Sudoku" and I got the directions right away somehow and now I really like it! Random stuff we do in class- I love playing four corners! I play it with my friends and it never gets old! The dancing too! I love to dance to all the "Just Dance" songs. There is always one funny move in each song! Reading- FART I love to fart (Fun Awesome Reading Time!) Last year if my teacher said "Time to read" I would not want to, but this summer I found this book called Choose Your Own Adventure, and I already am into it like crazy! Every time it is time to FART I am very excited! Today we went on a field trip to Jourong East water park, and it was the best field trip ever! I went every where! See you on my next blog post!
