The first investigation we did was called "Separating Mixtures". I thought that this investigation was pretty hard because I didn't really do science that much in 4th grade. Plus in 4th grade, we never did science like this. I really was interested in all the experiments though. When working with our group, I didn't think that we did a good job because when the directions told us that we had to pour something, or one person had to do it, we all wanted to do it. It was crazy. People were asking left and right, can I do it? Can I do it? I learned that when you work with table groups, you really have to find a method for taking turns so that everybody in the group with get a turn. I liked this investigation, but I flunked the test.
The second investigation we did was called "Reaching Saturation". I loved this even more because all we had to do was shake shake shake! Our group did a little better because we were split into 2 groups, (of 2 or 3 people per group from a table group) and at least my group was good about taking turns. I probably could of kept track of what I was doing because when we shook, we had to put more and more salt in, and every time that the salt dissolved, (or saturated) we would put more salt in. Then we would have to mark how many scoops of salt we put in. My test results were better then before.

I learned lots and lots of stuff from this investigation. We learned about atoms, and it was fun rearranging fake atoms to make different things like: Calcium Carbonate (chalk), Carbon Dioxide (gas), and other stuff like that. My test results were the best I had ever done!
Science was difficult and lots of fun for me. There were times were I got so frustrated I wanted to run home and start crying, and there were times that I totally got it, that Mrs. Clayton wouldn't have to say anything else. When I was struggling, I can definitely connect to last year when I did science because I was also struggling. Not as much as this year because we did easier things that I kinda already knew from 3rd grade, but some times last year I didn't really get it. Now that science is over, I am ready for Social Studies, so come and get me!
Wow you wrote a lot of things about science! You made it very clear and gave a lot of detail so that was very helpful.I can relate to you about how sometimes we struggled to understand the concepts. Great job writing Julia!
