Christalite Methodist Home Reflection

I thought that this trip was going to be like old people, gross smells and other stuff like that, but it wasn't at all. Most of the people were old, but not all. Some rooms did have a little smell, but then you got use to it. And most of all, it was nothing like I expected it to be! Read on to find out what I did from beginning to end.

The first thing that I did was make hats with all the people. That was my favorite part. I first got pared up with this Chinese guy who I really could not understand! He had a really low voice, and he spoke so fast in Chinese that I couldn't understand him. Then the lady who worked there spoke in Chinese to him and we found out he just wanted to listen to the Christmas songs that were on, and wanted to interact with us. He left the table and this other man sat down and thankfully he spoke english. The man worked on his hat for at least 10 minutes, and it turned out beautiful!

Then this other woman sat down and I started thinking Oh no! This is going to be a mean one! But she wasn't, she was a very nice woman and found out her name is Julie. She had already made one hat, but she wanted to make another so I let her because I can't tell her no.

She was still making her hat when this really really old lady sat down. She looked so fragile that I was like look how cute she looks! The old lady didn't say a thing, I didn't say a thing, and the lady knew what to do. The old lady made two hats too!I was really impressed because others did not know what to do.

I helped the two ladies until Julie was done, and then the old lady left. The old lady didn't want her hats. I wondered why. Nobody was at the table I was at, so I started to wandering around. A little later this man came in and wanted a hat, and there was none left. So I had no idea where to get one and I guess I accidentally grabbed Alexa's hat and gave it to the lady. The reason why I did grab Alexa's hat  was because there was man holding my hand and constantly kept asking me, "I want a hat" over and over again. I was completely confused! So I quickly gave Alexa's hat to the woman, and looked around the place to find an extra hat and there was none left, so I grabbed mine off my head and gave it to the man. The man took the hat and quickly ran off, and that was the end of that.

After that we all went into the hallway and one of the elderly asked me, "Where's your hat?" I responded, "The was no hats left and I was really confused, so I gave my hat to someone." Ryan was  coming though the crowd and he started taking off his hat and putting it into my hands. He said, "Keep it. I have more at home." So I took the hat and now I have a santa hat. (Again thank you Ryan!)

We all went to where they ate and sang four songs to the elderly. 1) Feliz Navidad 2) Silent Night
3) Jingle Bells  4) We Wish You A Merry Christmas. I thought it was very fun singing the songs, but once we finished a song, hardly anyone would clap. But I still thought it was fun.

Our fun time comes to an end, but we can cherish the memories. I learned that old people are active, and love children. I explained everything to my mom and was interested the whole way through. I am exited to come back in February, and can't wait to cherish more fun times.

Where I Am Going For Vacation In Chinese

As a chinese assignment, our class had to record ourselves saying where we are going over Christmas break. I think that it was really hard because we had to say where we were going in 30 seconds. That was especially hard for me because I would keep ending at like 16.8 seconds or something like that and I would have to do it over and over again. I don't know how many times I had to re-do it, but at least 3 times. I hope you enjoy listening and write a comment below translating what I said. (Or at least try.)

The Message In The Book Wonder

We finished the book Wonder, and I thought it was a really good story! It was very meaning full and it had lots of messages, but here is one that I thought was important.

I think that the message in the book Wonder is: It's not about what's on the out- side, but what's on the inside. I think this because have you seen way August has acted? Is he mean, and selfish? No! He is really nice, and is kind-hearted. So, what I mean by it's not about what's on the outside, but what's on the inside is August could have this really super duper, gross, weird looking face, but on the inside, how does he act? He acts friendly, and that's all it takes to be a good person, the inside.

My P.E. Push-ups

This is me doing my push-ups in P.E. Here are some things that I did well on, and some things that I could improve on.

I did a really good job on:

• Going slow and not way to fast.
• Going down all the way.
• My hands were facing straight and not side-ways. 

Some things that I could improve on:

• Maybe I could go a little slower.
• Right as I would go down, I would fall, catch myself, then come back up. So not falling down.
• My back could be more straight and not curved.

Reason:  What would you do if you were in school and all of the sudden BAM! You hear loud gunshots outside, and you are away from your family? I would be terrified if I were in that situation.  You would love this book because it is full of adventure! There is adventure here, there, and everywhere! This book starts off with a normal average day in school in the village of Loun-Ariik. Then something terrible happens. You will have to read this book to find out. But later in the book there’s lots of dying, emotion, and traveling. In the end it could be very happy, or it could be sad, but I want you to read it to find out! You can find A Long Walk To Water in the IS library, but it’s so popular that you may have to go to the MS library to find it. A Long Walk To Water is like a R-S level.  Also, as you can see, A Long Walk To Water is an Adventure and Historical Fiction book. If you like this book, Linda Sue Park has also published A Single Shard, When My Name Was Keoko, and Click. Last but not least, A Long Walk To Water was published in 2010, and it  is still the best selling book, so you should read it! Have fun reading!

My Persuasive Essay

I thought that this persuasive essay is pretty good. After you read this, you will never ever in your life to smoke! It took some time to write this up, but it was worth it. If you have moms, dad, aunts, uncles, even friends who smoke, show them this because (I even say this in the essay) I really don't want people to smoke. You can help me to stop these smokers by reading this and telling the smokers all you learned in this essay. I hope you enjoy reading it!

I think that I did well on:

• Not having an attitude on which people should or should not do.
• Didn't say I hope I have convinced you, because I did convince you.
• Talked about lot's of ways how you get the things that I'm talking about.

Some things that I could improve on:

• Need to find more facts to fit my three reasons.
• More ways to end my body paragraphs because they all end with "now you know why you should not smoke"
• Find better descriptive words in my essay.

UN Day! Yay!

UN day, finished! Wow has it been a long day for me. I am really proud of all of us because our presentation is great! There were some times in videos were people would get embarrassed, but it was still awesome! Look at this video and you will see that it is not bad at all. (And it has great music along with it!) My Typing Progress

My Trip To The Science Centre Reflection

         Today was a awesome day! Why? Because I got to go to the Science Centre! I did so many fun things, but here is one thing that I thought I should share with you! I went into the sound room and went through many fun things, but then I found this hall that lead to something, so I got exited. Vainavi and my mom were with me, so they both came along too! 

  

       We walked and walked and walked down this hallway filled with all sorts of different facts. I looked to one side, but then I had to look at the other side, (because there was so much things to see!) so it wasn't a quick walk down the hall. We curved around the hall and went straight and left and right, then finally got to another exhibit! It was a math exhibit! Both me and Vainavi walked around trying to find an interesting place to stop and read a sign about what the creation was and why it was important, but I couldn't find anything that grabbed my intention. 

          Then I came to this black thing that had a shape of a person. I looked on the front of it and it was a muscle man! I asked my mom if she could take a picture, and she did. I put my hair in front, so I would really look like that was me, instead of a plastic figure. I looked once more on the front of the muscle man, and he had math facts all around his body! (But math facts that people in Middle School do!) I peered over my moms shoulders and I saw my picture. Vainavi was laughing so hard, she almost fell down. I stared cracking up too! Then my mom looked at her watch and told us it was time to go, so we rushed out and that funny part of the day was over.

The thing that I learned.

          I learned a lot of things, but one thing I learned was when you put a bowl over a speaker,  then you have to hear which bowl lets you hear the sound the loudest. It was between a big metal bowl, a small flat metal bowl, or a big plastic bowl. Before reading this, comment on which one you think it is. I thought that it was the small flat bowl, but it was the big plastic bowl. To me, I thought that was weird, but then I thought, now I know why. The sound waves bounced off of the of the metal bowl, and went through the plastic bowl.  I'm not so sure why, but I know that the sound waves bounced off of the metal, instead of the plastic.

Disqualified

Have you ever been to a swim meet and made the biggest mistake of your life? Well I have! If you are dying to know what happened, read this book! You will not believe that I made that big of a mistake! This book is not as good as my last book because I didn't have help with Mrs. Clayton, so just be aware that this is not as good as my last book The Big Drop!
I think that I described what some of the bad things (that happened in my story) deeply, but I can't tell you the bad things that happened, you have to find it out on your own! (by reading this story!) I think that I could also work on finding better words to replace the ones that I have said twice. But, I hope that you like this story and please comment on what you like and what you think that I should work on!

Why I should Have A Day Off From School

I deserve a day off from school because I hate always getting up at 6:00 in the morning weekday because we live far away from the school. I also deserve a day off from school especially on Tuesday, because I have swimming lessons, then I have to come up fast for a piano lesson so it is lots of work on that day. Last but not least, I can catch up on seeing my family members. When we go to bed, the people in America wake up, and I have to go to bed early every weekday, so I don't get to see them since they are always in bed by the time I'm going to bed! My friends too! I need some time to play with them! Those are some reasons why I think that I should have a day off from school!

  Hi! This is Julia's mom and I will talk about my daughter Julia. Julia is my first. She has always been a joy since she was born! The moment she was in my stomach, she really lighted up my life! Julia is a sweet and smart girl. She is a blessing to our world! When I first saw her she was beauty to my eyes. She is determined to do anything, and doesn't give up! She can really make someone smile! Julia makes friends with everyone, and fills their bucket! She is one of those people that doesn't want to miss any homework, and fights with me to read with her at night! She loves to read adventure books and loves the series Choose Your Own Adventure. 

Julia loves to go on adventures herself! When we camping, Julia and her brother, sister, and cousins went down into the forest, and made a trail, then they came back talking all about what they had seen.   The 4 days we were camping, they kept on making more and more progress on the trail. It had really had impressed me! 

Julia loves her family, but she also loves other stuff too like:

• dolphins
• the color light blue
• going on family vacations
• obstacle courses
• her i-pod
• games
• gymnastic
• baby-sitting
• doing stuff on the computer
• ice cream (or any deserts)
• and water slides

Julia is great. I could talk about her more, but there is too much! I love Julia and she will always be my girl.

P.E. Crunches

What I am doing well:
 I don't go all the way up to where I can see the people in front of me, and I can keep my feet on the ground. 

Things I can improve on:
 I can go up and down slower. To me it looks like I go to fast. Plus my hands can be flat when I touch the top of my knees.

Book Recommendation

Well try this book. Mystery Of The Maya! In this book you are the author and you get to make the decisions! You may choose to wander into the forest or stay at a beach. You may choose to get into fight or travel in time. In this book you will wander everywhere! In this book you are on a quest to find your friend Tom. I don't want get to deep into the story though. If you enjoy adventure books this is the book for you! You can get this in the IS library. If you read this book and like it, Mystery Of The Maya isn't the only Choose Your Own Adventure book! There are lots more Choose Your Own Adventure books! Have a nice time reading! :)

I would like Junie B. Jones as my best friend because Junie B. Jones is always active (I'm always active too!!!) and she is so funny! Last night I read a Junie B. Jones book called "Junie B. Jones Loves Handsome Warren" and she said a joke that made herself laugh like crazy and I would want to be in the book especially at that time because I would do the same thing. Living with Junie B. and her family would be the most hilarious thing that you would see! A baby brother that has a huge head and is a handful! A dog who drools a lot, two parents who do everything to keep the family in control (very hard work) a grandma and grandpa who try to do anything to make Junie B. happy and last but not least Junie B. The wild one. Who believes anything that somebody says such as older kids pouring chocolate milk on her head right before she gets on to the bus! To me it would be fun living in the life with Junie B. Jones! You would get on the bus and see her saving a seat for her best friend Grace and sometimes with wacky stuff on her or in her hands! At recess you would see Grace and Lucille, Junie B. Jone's other best friend and Junie B. playing horses. And in school you would see other very crazy stuff.

You would want to see what would aways happen next on every single page! Try reading Junie B. Jone's books and you will want to read every book! :)

My First Two Weeks of School!

So far my first two weeks of school have been fun! I have lost some star bucks, but I still have plenty more for the year. The first day of school was sort-of scary but when I came in the door my best friend was standing by the desk that she wanted. I have met new friends and saw old ones, but the hard part was trying to remember everyone in the class names! I am still having a little trouble with the names, but I am close to knowing every ones! Math- math has been one of the hardest subjects of my life, but Mrs. Clayton makes it fun! My grandpa has been trying to get me to do the game "Sudoku" over the past few years, but every time he try's to teach me, I have no idea what he is saying, but we played "Sudoku" and I got the directions right away somehow and now I really like it! Random stuff we do in class- I love playing four corners! I play it with my friends and it never gets old! The dancing too! I love to dance to all the "Just Dance" songs. There is always one funny move in each song! Reading- FART I love to fart (Fun Awesome Reading Time!) Last year if my teacher said "Time to read" I would not want to, but  this summer I found this book called Choose Your Own Adventure, and I already am into it like crazy! Every time it is time to FART I am very excited! Today we went on a field trip to Jourong East water park, and it was the best field trip ever! I went every where! See you on my next blog post!

I think this website is not useful because it has facts, but a bit to much facts! It has small print more for adults and if you were doing a book report on that, you might want to have high reading levels, or be an adult! So I recommend that you don't use that link if you are a child!

I think this website is only for adults because it is very hard and I would never recommend that website to a child. It has so many facts that I had to just skim though it then really read it so that is only for adults in my opinion!




Make sure that you can read and understand the text completely with Ease and make sure the link is easy and not hard and you don't understand words!

Search Strategies

* You can go onto goggle and search up anything you want to look up.

* You can go onto chrome and search up anything you want to look up.

* Remember you have to be able to trust that website. If you not sure than you can look in more than one place to make sure it's real.

What I learned: 

* I learned that you have to say small words

* You have to have specific words and not small words like "it or as".
* Make sure that you don't use one word because that word might be something that the Internet might think is different.  Ex. You might want to find interesting facts about hares, but they give you adds about shampoo for hair. So you have to be careful.
* When you are looking for something you have to find the 3 best words to fit the thing that you are looking for.

Rainforest Facts

Did you know that there is over 3,000 of fruit in the rainforest! In Malaysia there is more than 700 trees in the rainforest! Also the bigger the plant the more the sun light it gets! Wait! Do you know this question? Is it ok to have a monkey for a pet? Wow! The canopy is practically like an umbrella and that is where most animals live. But some of the animals in the rainforest are very colorful live the pretty frogs even though some frogs don't live in the canopy! Learning about the rainforest is cool! Why don't you try!
