My Experience To Tibetan Singing Bowls

When I was walking down the hall, I was sort-of nervous. I was nervous because I have never heard of such thing, and I was curious to see what is was. I will tell you how I felt when Bill Cael (The man who did the whole Tibetan Bowls) rung those bowls. You may not understand what I am saying, but I will try my best to explain. The things I felt were not so good things. I saw a movie, seashell, my grandma, a whale, and blue. Read these paragraphs to find out what I mean.

What Bill Cael did fist was really simple. He rung these things that look like symbols, but a little bit bigger. He told us to close our eyes, so we did so. When he rung them, what I felt was this part of the movie. The movie was The Polar Express. What I mean is a certain part of the movie. I totally forget it, but it was not one of the fun times of the movie. Then strait away it went out of mind and I felt a seashell. This is a hard one to explain. I didn't really feel like a seashell was on me, but it was being swept across my legs.

Then Bill told us to lay down while he played the actual Tibetan Bowls. When he played the bowls, they weren't as high pitched as I thought they would be. They were quiet low if you ask me. When he played those though, I felt my grandma when she died. When he played all that I felt was the day when black was everywhere, there was lots of crying, and then my grandma was in the ground. It wasn't a pleasant moment.

Then Bill played the longest he'd ever have. When he did that I felt two things. One of which was a whale. I have a sheep that makes whale noises, and I've watched a movie that had excellent whale noises, and that is not exactly what I heard, but something like it. Then a little bit later I felt blue. Again this is a hard one to explain. When he was playing the bowls, at one point it was very high pitched, and I felt blue. I don't know how, but I did.

Now you know what I felt like when I was hearing the Ancient Tibetan Singing Bowls. You know how I flet, but I don't know how you felt, so please write a comment below saying how you felt because everybody else wants to know how you felt too! Thanks for reading.

Images Of Singapore Field Trip

I had an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G time at Images Of Singapore! It was so creative, yet so fun too! This blog post will tell you everything about the field trip I went on. I will try my best to remember all the things I did, but there was so much, I might only remember the last few parts of it. I hope you enjoy it.

When I got to Images Of Singapore we immediately had our snack. I thought that the adventure began, but that wasn't even the start. We had our snack for about 15 minutes, then we went to actually start our adventure. I thought that this was just going to be pictures of Singapore, and important people, but that is nothing what I had in mind. We got inside and there was this place to look at a bunch of old things. I wondered why it looked like that because I had thought it wouldn't be like this. Then this man opened these doors, and in I went.

I went in some more and sat down in a seat. I looked at the paper I had in my hand and found out that this was the Auditorium Presentation. The main reason for this is to talk about the four winds. The four winds are Harmony, Peace, Family, and Community. There were four people who told us that. They came from different realigns. They are Indian,  Chinese, Malaysian, and European. (You will see later why I told you that.) Then the show was over, and we went into this other room.

When we went into the other room we saw all the trades the people back then had. (If you are wondering, a trade is a job.) There were tons of jobs, but I got four. The four I got were a Rickshaw puller. (A Rickshaw Puller is a person who not drives people, but takes people to other places. Sort-of like a taxi, but no car.) The other three I got were Amah, (Helper) Sam Sui Woman, (builder) and a Indian Milk Seller. I thought that all of these jobs are important. Do you?

I walked some more went up some stairs, walked a little bit more, and I came to the timeline place. There were so many things that happened to make Singapore Singapore, but there were other important things that happened. I got three things. One happened in 1930. That was when the storm Clouds Gathered. The Storm Clouds were the Japanese coming to Singapore. I chose this because Singapore had to face possibility of war. The second one I got was in 1942-1945. This was the Occupation. What happened in the Occupation were, thousands of Europeans were interred on the island. Last but not least, in 1950 was the Road To Independence. That was when Singapore became Singapore, and the Japanese surrendered. Do you think that those are important?

Then I walked a little bit more and I came to the Primary Sources. I got two. First, T.V. I learned that the Japanese surrendered. I was thinking that the Japanese will never fight back because they see that Singapore has over taken them a lot. The second one I got was an Embroidered Frame. I learned that it was made with silk threads. I was thinking that people back then were very creative.

Then came the Secondary Sources. I got two Secondary Sources. I used a Drawing Of People. It was very colorful and very designed. I was thinking that it would take them a long time to make them. My other Secondary Source is a mannequin of Sam Sui Woman. I learned that it took a long time to build things because back then the didn't have the tools we have now.

Then I walked some more and I came to a sort-of Indian world. It was very cool because I felt like I was a normal person taking stroll in India. I also learned a lot from their culture. I never really knew about Deepavali, but now I do. I thought it was really cool because I've never really studied or seen any Indian things.

Then we went into China World. I had a little experience with China because I have been to China Town, but I don't know that much. I thought this was even more cool because there were so many things that are different from my culture. As I went, I was thinking of all the things that my culture (USA) and their culture (China) had in common and not. I loved this even more because it was cool to see what they do for a life. Then the amazement began.

I went into this HUGE room with all these things about everything that we learned. I realized that that was the end. I thought that this field trip was great fun, and I would love to come back anytime. I thought that the purpose of Images Of Singapore was to show you how Singapore has grown. (Here is the part I was saving for the end about the cultures.) Someone's perspective was missing from that museum. It was the European because did you ever hear me talk about it?

All of my questions:
Who was the first person to come to Singapore?
What is the main trade of Singapore?
Did they mean to take out the Europeans part or no?

If you have any of these answers, please write a comment below answering them. Thanks!

My Non-Fiction Writing

On the Non-Fiction unit I choose the topic dolphins because they are my favorite animal, and I only know a little about them. That would be why I chose this topic.

I thought that this topic was simple, and that's why I really liked Non-Fiction. I also liked learning more facts about dolphins, and now I'm a dolphin pro. I did not like when we did pages though. I had too many facts, so it was really hard to cram it into 4 pages. (I'm glad that Mrs. Clayton let us do 4 pages instead of 2. I would of died.) I really hope that you like my piece because it took a lot of effort!

Reflecting On Science

Science is now done! I really liked science, but sometimes it was hard. The experiments that we did were really fun, and I loved when we did the topic on "Chemical Reactions". We did three investigations. (AKA topics) The first investigation we did was about "Separating Mixtures". The second investigation we did was about "Reaching Saturation". And my favorite, the last investigation we did was about "Things Fizzing". You should read on to find out what I did in these investigations.

The first investigation we did was called "Separating Mixtures". I thought that this investigation was pretty hard because I didn't really do science that much in 4th grade. Plus in 4th grade, we never did science like this. I really was interested in all the experiments though. When working with our group, I didn't think that we did a good job because when the directions told us that we had to pour something, or one person had to do it, we all wanted to do it. It was crazy. People were asking left and right, can I do it? Can I do it? I learned that when you work with table groups, you really have to find a method for taking turns so that everybody in the group with get a turn. I liked this investigation, but I flunked the test.

The second investigation we did was called "Reaching Saturation". I loved this even more because all we had to do was shake shake shake! Our group did a little better because we were split into 2 groups, (of 2 or 3 people per group from a table group) and at least my group was good about taking turns. I probably could of kept track of what I was doing because when we shook, we had to put more and more salt in, and every time that the salt dissolved, (or saturated) we would put more salt in. Then we would have to mark how many scoops of salt we put in. My test results were better then before.

The last investigation was called "Fizz Quiz". This was my favorite because there were lots and lots of reactions! This was the longest investigation, but it was super duper fun! I was at a different table this time, and we definitely went back to stage 1. We all wanted to do everything. (But again, I was telling you this was a fun investigation!)
I learned lots and lots of stuff from this investigation. We learned about atoms, and it was fun rearranging fake atoms to make different things like: Calcium Carbonate (chalk), Carbon Dioxide (gas), and other stuff like that. My test results were the best I had ever done!

Science was difficult and lots of fun for me. There were times were I got so frustrated I wanted to run home and start crying, and there were times that I totally got it, that Mrs. Clayton wouldn't have to say anything else. When I was struggling, I can definitely connect to last year when I did science because I was also struggling. Not as much as this year because we did easier things that I kinda already knew from 3rd grade, but some times last year I didn't really get it. Now that science is over, I am ready for Social Studies, so come and get me!
